An optimistic attitude enables a person to approach situations with an expectation of success, because a hopeful person envisions possibilities.

Hope is a powerful  attitude. Infact, hope  …
    is a positive perspective of the future
    is a state of mind that serves as a source of  encouragement
    is a motivational force
    enhances persistence and perseverance

Prophetic Example
    At the Battle of the Trench, the Muslims of Madinah were surrounded by enemy forces who wanted to wipe out the Muslims. Many felt helpless, yet the Prophet motivated them and as he struck a rock with an axe while digging the trench, a spark went off and the Prophet said; “I see the treasures of Persia and Rome at your disposal.” He was saying this to a group of people who were not sure whether they would live to see the next day, yet he inspired them with hope.
    The Israa’ wal-Miraaj (celestial night journey of the Prophet Muhammad) occurs at the darlest period (year of sorrow) in his life; after the death of his wife, supporter and financier (Khadijah) and his dear protective uncle (Abu Talib). Among the “gifts” granted; salaah (5 daily prayers), the whole world is a place of worship, promise of Allah’s forgiveness, the last 2 verses of Chapter 2 of the Qur’an, and the reminder that difficulty is followed by ease. Most of these “gifts” were and are hope inspiring.

Realize the Power of Attitudes
If we are cognizant of the fact that our attitudes indicate our approach to daily living, we will realize how damaging negative attitudes and pessimism are to our sense of well-being; they dictate our whole life. Wisew ones have said that optimism is the one quality more associated with success and happiness than any other. The advice of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) now acquires greater significance…  pessimism is part of bad character.
